All About TSMC Company

Founded in 1987, TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) is a semiconductor foundry headquartered in Hsinchu, Taiwan. The foundry is the largest of its kind globally, producing more than 100,000 silicon wafers per month. It's part of a more comprehensive network of semiconductor companies known as the Taiwanese Semiconductor Industry, which is the world's largest, with $133.2 billion in 2011 revenues. If that's not impressive enough, TSMC's revenue in 2011 was more than 60 times larger than the global semiconductor industry's revenue in 1987—the company's first full year in business.

TSMC was founded in 1987. The company was jointly owned by the Government of Taiwan, the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association (a consortium of over 700 companies), and private investors.  In addition to its core of fabs (fabrication plants), TSMC also operates four R&D centres and provides over 50 companies. The company has more than 23,000 workers worldwide. They started as a manufacturer of logic chips but later expanded into producing the whole range of semiconductor devices. The company is based in Taiwan and currently has 23 manufacturing facilities worldwide. In 2011 the company was ranked as one of the top-ten semiconductor sales leaders by Electronic News, with $9.26B.

In addition to its 300mm fabs in Hsinchu, Taiwan, and Singapore, the company also has a 200mm fab in Taiwan.

The company produces chips for various companies, including Apple. They also make their brand of chips for phones and other consumer electronics, and they are also a designer and manufacturer of integrated circuits, MEMS, and other electronic components.

The stock price of Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) had a great run in 2017, and the company is looking to continue that by gaining market share in 2018. The TSMC stock price climbed 41% throughout 2017, and the company is looking to continue that growth into 2018 despite the risks posed by the trade war between the U.S. and China.
